A Clutch for You, and You, and You!

I am so excited to introduce you to my newly restyled clutches today!  I snagged some sewing time last week and made up a dozen with super fun bright and bold prints.

It has been an evolution.  A long while ago I made this clutch and listed in my shop:

I loved everything about it except the closure.  The original pattern had a button hole and button to keep it closed, but I didn't like the look of a button on the front.  It just messed up the flow of the pattern.  This style can't really take a zipper so I was left with using a snap.  Magnetic snaps did not work on this style, no matter how hard I tried.  It just kept pulling on the fabric.  That meant a large sew-in snap on the inside.  But it didn't look great.  Certainly not terrible, but not great either.

Then I came across another pattern for a padded portfolio and thought I'd give it a try.  I made three- two padded with batting and one lined with interfacing and even though they all started off with the same size fabric, they all ended up different sizes!

See?  None line up on the right side!

Anyway, they're fun and cute and I like them a lot, especially the strap closure with the top of the portfolio tucked behind it.  And then the light bulb went off.  Strap closure + clutch!

Perfect!!  I love the play on prints.  There are 12 in the shop right now, all of them lined with the fabric you see on the strap.  I like that gray with the yellow gingham so much I may just need to keep it for myself!

I love them so much I am offering 10% off with coupon code NEWSTUFF- good on the whole shop until tomorrow night!  And even though they aren't listed, if anyone's interested in one of those padded portfolios (the right size for a tablet or reader, I'm sure) just let me know!

What have you been working on lately?

Linking up!
