Just Dance.

This reminds me that I should put some music on when I need to clean.

When I shared an apartment with my best friend right after college, we used to do this all the time.  And while it was a dance party for two and not one, that just made it all the more entertaining.  This isn't to say that I didn't have dance parties for one when I lived in an apartment with my boyfriend-now-husband.  I totally did when he was gone out to sea.

General music choice? 80s pop hits.

Enjoy.

What do you listen to when you clean/study/work?

  1. OMG... nice throwback. I don't often listen to music when I clean. Cleaning for me is therapeutic so I usually just think about things while I clean. I typically listen to music when I'm reading or doing homework. I use pandora so I just create stations off my favorite artists which consist of The Police, Tears for Fears, Garbage, Florence and The Machine, Lana Del Ray, etc.. I think I have an eclectic taste in music.

Wake me up, before you go-go! Don't leave me hangin' on like a yo-yo!

My musical tastes are wide and varied. I went through a Book of Mormon soundtrack phase a few months ago when I was doing all of that painting and now, strangely, I like to hear Taylor Swift when I do the dishes. Last night we played Outkast while we made dinner. There's no rhyme or reason with us, haha.

  3. I am definitely someone that NEEDS music in order to clean. I hate cleaning. I attribute my hate of cleaning to the fact that I had to do A LOT of it starting as a very small kid. Then when I went to college, I had to clean up after roommates that didn't do dishes or do their share in cleaning on top of everything I already had to do. Andrew is totally anal about stuff like that so he's constantly cleaning, which I'm quite fine with! :) Either way, music is a HUGE motivator for me in everything. I put on different playlists that I made on my iPod that are sort of all over the place. Lately I've been listing to this playlist on Spotify which is to top 89 songs of the year from our favorite local radio station-- 89.7 WTMD Top 89 Songs of 2012

  5. I love Pandora. I have a station based off of Ben Folds and we have one on Bela Fleck and the Flecktones....I should probably make more, like 80s music-style. :) I love music on if I'm working but I can't have anything on while I'm reading. I find I just can't concentrate on the book!

  6. Those songs are also good for working out. :)

I definitely have a wide taste in music and there are styles that are better for some things than others. I like faster-paced music for things that I need energy for, such as cleaning, but if I'm working then I want something slower (though not too slow) like John Mayer.

  7. I really need to put music on more when I'm working because I know it helps put me in a zone. For awhile I put it on when I was cleaning up after supper, but I don't know why I stopped doing it. The computer is always sitting right there, and I love using Pandora. I haven't tried Spotify...bummer the link didn't work!

  8. I'm like Heidi and I hate cleaning so I always put on music. The type of music really depends on my mood, 80s is fun if I'm in a good mood, or angrier music if I'm not and really don't want to be cleaning, lol. I always say I would hire someone to do it if I could, but I don't know if that's really true. I don't really like strangers being all up in my personal space, so I'll probably just keep doing it myself forever even though I don't like it. Maybe I could hire someone just to do bathrooms and the kitchen? :)

  9. I like angry rager music when I'm stuck in traffic LOL!

It would be so nice to just have a self-cleaning house. That way it would always be clean, you wouldn't have to do it, and there would be no strangers in your house. I agree- I don't like the idea of someone coming into my house like that. It would be different if it were a live in person, for those people who are rich enough to do so- but just some kind of service kind of weirds me out.
