The One in Which We Finish the Kitchen

It has been a long hard journey.  Three years almost to the day of dust and destruction, chaos and disorganization.  And yesterday, we finished.  The main house is done.  We have finished redoing all the rooms- every single surface except the wood floor in the main living spaces has been touched.  Anything left to do now (like add another room to the basement space) is gravy from here on out.

Yesterday we finished the kitchen!  It actually went a little more smoothly than we thought.  We painted the cabinets, changed the counter top from Formica to granite, changed out the backsplash tile, and changed the hardware on the cabinets and the outlets and switches.  We painted the little bit of peach wall left a nice tan color and all the peach trim became white.  We even moved a few of the awesome prints by Pen and Paint to the kitchen wall from the dining room since they seemed fitting in there.

Now, it wasn't terrible, which is why we saved it for last.  But after all we did, it didn't match our style at all.

The finished product:

I can't even tell you how much brighter and fresher everything feels.  I've always enjoyed being in the kitchen but now I really love being in that room.

So now we have a little more decorating to do throughout the house, and some other little odds and ends we wanted to go back to, but we're calling the house done.

Is it bad that I already want to repaint my office upstairs, which started out as Gus's room?
