Oh, Hair.

If you can remember back to almost a year (seriously), I posted about my hair and what a problem it can be.  To refresh your memory, it's generally long, thick, and out of control.  My last cut was in May.  Yes, May.  As in May 2011.  Let's just say that "rat's nest" could easily apply to me even on a somewhat good hair day.  Then I saw this on People.com and pinned it:

Now, there are so many things wrong with this idea, namely 1: I am afraid to death of short hair.  Not even just super-short, short in general.  2: I do not look like Michelle Williams and I would probably turn out looking like a boy.  You have to have the right face for the right cut, that's for sure.

But there is something about this idea of hair short enough that I don't have to worry about doing much to it.  If I want to flat-iron my hair right now (ha. ha.) it takes about 30 minutes.  If it were that much shorter, it might take 10.  20 minutes saved- bam!- and I could do it all the time, not just every third day or whatever.  My line to my hair stylist (who is never the same because why would I try and maintain a stylist??) has always been, "I have to be able to pull it up."  And then I started thinking, why?  Why do I need to pull it up?  If it's short enough to not need to be pulled up, then isn't that good?

So I started searching Pinterest and pinning, which I don't often do:

Now, granted, I don't have those faces either (or Keri's curls) but I like the length on them and it's not so extreme, right?  Anyone pondering a new 'do?

  1. Cute hair cuts! My face is way too round for the first cut -- and I'm scared to death of that short! My hair was always suuuper long growing up, and then after I got married I chopped it off to about chin length - I did not like it. Word of advice, curly hair (if you have it) is only ever "cute" when it's short. I'm on the road to re-growth!

  2. I just got my hair cut after it's been past my waist for a long time. It was heavy and took waaaaay too long to fix in the morning.
    I love it now :)

2 Words that may change your life.... Hot Rollers!
I go to bed with my hair wet most nights. In the morning, its dry so I just put hot rollers in and let it be. My rollers heat up super fast and set fast. Seriously, it takes me 3 minutes to set the rollers, then I do my makeup and then take them back out again. Easy Peasy!

  3. All the time! I would love to have Meryl Streep's hairstyle in "The Devil Wears Prada", but my hair has a mind of its own. Short of using cement glue, it curls in every direction!

  5. Do it. About four months after I had my last baby I chopped my hair...I'm sooooo glad I did! After all, even if you do it and hate it...hair grows, right? :)

  6. I'm a member of the twice yearly haircut club, too! I actually go to a local beauty school (risky, I know) and it's only $5.

Keri's haircut is the least scary, since it's almost to her shoulders in the back. Maybe start with that one and see how you feel?

  7. i've had hair as short as michelle's, not in a long time, but had it that short for years. it so much easier. i've also had that mid bob length, which is super chic, pretty easy and always classic.

DO it. if you don't like it, it will grow back. you might find it's just what you need!

  8. Dropping by to say hi from Liz' link party. :) My hair is WAY too thin to ever do a short 'do like Michelle Williams. The shortest I've gone was similar to the 3rd picture you have, of the lady in the sunglasses. It's definitely easier to manage than long hair.

  9. I'm always wanting a new hair cut! My hair is long and straight, and hardly does anything. Of course, maybe it would help if I spent just a tiny bit of time on it. :-)

  10. I just chopped off all my hair(...I have a post I have been meaning to publish about that, and I couldn't be happier. Love Michelle Williams' pixie cut. I think the length of Kerri's hair is a good place to start if you are feeling a little nervous about the change. Gradual right? Plus, hair grows!

  12. I have such a problem with my hair. My hair is flat and straight and has no body at all! The last time I got it cut was dec. 2010! And I chopped it all off. bad idea. I can't look at celebrity hair anymore- mine just never turns out looking like I hope it will. One day i'll find the right look for me- but until then, it's up in a bun for me! I hope you find the right style for you! The good thing is that hair will always grow back, so no style is ever permanent!

Hope your having a great week!
